MIDDELFONTEIN: NIGHT MARCH & GHOST FINDING ROUTE

The ghost route takes place on the farm Middelfontein just 2 km outside Sutherland in the direction of Calvinia. You must drive to the farm with your own transport from where the walking trail starts.

Winters will be cool but the fresh air will do you good. Dress warm, wear comfortable walking shoes, a small torch or headlight might be useful. A walking stick is not a must but handy. Take your own water in a carry bag as there is limited water at the bauma – everything must be carried up the mountain. The first kilometer is a slight climb, then level and downhill all the way. The ghost trail starts after the get together at the bauma. Take an extra bite of food or sweets with you – the coffee, roosterkoek and sausage presented is not a meal, just a snack to keep you warm. For the brave, there is a stargazing cession afterwards for one hour at Sterland, one km out of town in the direction of Matjiesfontein where you will find the caravan park as well.

The last lap is next to the river on the old forgotten main road from Calvinia with ghost stories, ghost images and sound effects.

Only a limited number of walkers can be accommodated.Cost is R50 pp. This venture is only suitable for kids older than 15 with the aid of their parents.
